Blind Football Cup in Leipzig: German champions fight for the cup!

On October 25th and 26th, 2025, the Rabet sports hall in Leipzig will be the venue for the 12th Saxon Blind Football Cup. 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig is the host of this top-class tournament, in which teams from Germany and abroad will fight for the Leipzig City Cup. The participants include prominent teams such as the German champions in blind football, Borussia Dortmund, as well as 1. FC Köln, Hertha BSC, FC Ingolstadt, Avoy MU Brno from the Czech Republic, BTS Rekord Bielsko-Biala from Poland and a national team from Austria. Admission to the event is free and the city of Leipzig supports the event with funding.

Games start at 8:30 a.m. on both days. A special feature of blind football is that all field players wear blindfolds or eye patches and the ball contains rattles. These acoustic elements, as well as the shouts from her sighted teammates, who started with “Voy!” contribute to orientation and make the game exciting and challenging for everyone involved.

Inclusion in sport

The Blind Football Cup is not only a sporting event, but also a platform to promote the inclusion and participation of people with disabilities in sport. According to the DGUV Inclusion is increasingly becoming part of the German school landscape. Heterogeneous learning groups in which students with different disabilities and without special educational needs are taught together are becoming increasingly important. The lesson on blind football not only promotes the students' technical skills, but also their social and emotional skills.

By raising awareness of the needs of people with disabilities and reducing fear of contact, a foundation is created that is of great importance in sport and beyond. Materials such as blind footballs, simulation glasses and teaching materials on the rules of blind football are necessary and available.

Supporting program and support

Accompanying the competitions there will be a supporting program that offers information on inclusion and participation in sport. An audio description is offered for visually impaired people and sighted spectators to give everyone the opportunity to follow what is happening on the pitch. The organizers invite all Leipzig residents to take part in this special event and cheer on the teams.

For support requests, Cindy Nübel can be contacted via email cindy.nuebel@lok-leipzig.com be contacted. The commitment to inclusion in sport should not only be visible this weekend, but also be continued in future events and initiatives. Everyone involved is looking forward to an exciting and educational weekend.
