Weißenfels, Deutschland - Today, on July 14, 2025, a large-scale police campaign took place in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt against a suspected drug ring. This long -awaited campaign included the search of 26 objects, 21 of which were in the Burgenland district. In the course of these searches, the police confiscated astonishing 6 kg crystal meth, 70 kg marijuana, several kilograms of cocaine and 1 kg ecstasy. In addition to the drug confiscations, several thousand euros in cash, various weapons such as shock pistols and knives as well as illegal pyrotechnics were also ensured. Two high -quality vehicles were confiscated in the operation. In total, the police temporarily arrested six men aged 25 to 36; Five of them are now in custody, while one is at large again. Four of the arrested come from Weißenfels, two from the Leipzig area. It is interesting to notice that most of the arrested are already known to the law enforcement authorities.
Cooperation between the police authorities
The successful search was carried out in cooperation with the Halle police inspection, the Saxons police, the state riot police and the State Criminal Police Office in Saxony-Anhalt. The aim of this project was to examine the phenomenology and the background of the methamphetamine consumption in Saxony. Methodological approaches included a light field analysis that collided data from police crime statistics and other sources, as well as qualitative interviews with those affected and specialist staff from medical and therapeutic institutions.
