A17 closed: massive diversions between Dresden and Prague from July 2nd!

The A17 motorway will be the focus of numerous road users in the coming days, as the access road at the Dresden-Südvorstadt junction in the direction of Prague will be completely closed. This measure is scheduled for the period from July 2nd to July 4th, 2025 and is intended to dismantle work on an existing scaffolding wall, such as diesachsen.de reported.

During the three days of the closure, road users must expect significant diversions. Special diversions will be set up for lines U15 and U16, which will be well signposted. The aim of these measures is to maintain traffic flow and avoid traffic jams.

Traffic disruptions in both directions

In addition, the A17 in the south of Dresden was closed on Saturday evening due to cleaning and maintenance work in the tunnels. This closure affects both carriageways between the Dresden-Gorbitz and Dresden-Südvorstadt junctions. The entrance to the Dresden-Südvorstadt junction in the direction of Dresden and the entrance to the Dresden-Gorbitz junction in the direction of Prague are currently not accessible, according to the local news provider tag24.de reports.

The maintenance work is expected to last until the afternoon of Sunday, with a planned reopening of the affected section of the route announced at 2 p.m. It is recommended that commuters and regular users of the A17 inform themselves in advance about current diversions to avoid delays.

Given the double restrictions, motorists and other road users can expect difficulties and longer journey times in the coming days. Alternative routes are strongly advised to make traffic flow more smoothly and minimize the impact of the closures. Road users should therefore be well informed and prepared.
