Airplane model making in Altenburger Land: Creative workshop for young and old!

In Altenburg, more precisely in the Lindenau Museum, an exciting event will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2025: the Open Workshop - an aircraft model building workshop. The model sports club Altenburger Land e.V. invites both children and adults to take an active part in building wooden airplanes and then painting them and experiencing them in the air during a flight demonstration. The event is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of model flying and to express yourself artistically.

The event is part of a series of workshops offered by the model sports club. In addition to the date on August 16th, there are other opportunities to get involved: Activities centered around model building will also take place on July 12th, July 26th and August 2nd. A small contribution of EUR 8 per person, regardless of whether they are a child or an adult, ensures that everyone can take part.

The club currently has 38 members and looks back on a long and traditional history.

The range of accepted models ranges from “foam waffles” to “carbon monsters” to classic wooden planes. Various propulsion options are possible, including gasoline, methanol, LiPo and flying in the updraft. The association invites anyone interested to become a member and actively participate in the diverse offerings.
