Shock in Leipzig: Attacks and break-ins cause fear!
There have been several worrying incidents in Leipzig in recent days that have kept the police on tenterhooks. The Leipzig Criminal Police Inspectorate has initiated numerous investigations, particularly with regard to the attacks that took place in the city. The first reports concern an attack on a woman and several groups of perpetrators who enriched themselves from older people.
On July 15, 2025, between 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., a 57-year-old woman was attacked by an unknown man in Kleinzschocher, Schwartzestrasse. The perpetrator, described as around 50 years old, 1.60 to 1.70 meters tall and with gray, curly hair, stood in the woman's way, hit her and harassed her. The woman demanded help and was able to fend off the perpetrator, but she suffered injuries that required hospitalization. Police have launched an investigation into suspected sexual offenses and are urgently appealing for witnesses to the incident as the attacker has a striking description, including a large white "rose" in his left ear and scars on his arms and legs. The Leipzig Internet newspaper reported this incident.
Burglary and fraud
Another shocking incident occurred on July 16th in Gohlis-Nord, Maria-Grollmuß-Straße, where two unknown women attacked an 85-year-old woman in her apartment. Between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m. the perpetrators stole valuables worth over ten thousand euros. Police describe the first perpetrator as corpulent with black hair tied in a braid, dressed in a white T-shirt and dark trousers, while the second person was seen wearing colored clothing and carrying a turquoise backpack. Here too, the criminal police are investigating the daytime apartment burglary and are looking for witnesses who can provide possible information.
In addition, a 97-year-old man in Lößnig, Zwickauer Straße, fell victim on the same day. Between 10:30 and 10:40 a.m., two men wearing dark clothing entered his apartment under the pretense of being police officers and stole cash. The perpetrators were described as being around 1.80m to 1.85m tall and around 60 years old, while police are appealing for the public's assistance in this case too.
Road traffic violations
However, the events are not just limited to attacks and break-ins. On July 16, another incident occurred in Oschatz around 2:00 p.m. involving cars on the street. A 48-year-old left his Cadillac with the engine running and the door open and did not respond to police instructions. The alcohol test carried out showed over 2 per mille, and drugs were also involved, as a positive drug test showed. The driver's license was confiscated and an investigation into endangering road traffic was initiated.
In Leipzig itself there were also several accidents involving e-scooters, with a 59-year-old man causing three accidents on Daumierstrasse after he was also under the influence of alcohol. His alcohol test showed values just under two per mille, which has further legal consequences.
The criminal police are required to deal with these cases with the necessary severity. In addition, the police answer inquiries about the crime situation and the investigations carried out on +49 341 966-0. The entire structure and responsibility of the criminal police in Saxony is designed to efficiently combat serious and medium-sized crime the Saxony Police Department explained.
