Frederik Jäkel: Sixth loan! Eintracht Braunschweig relies on talent!

Frederik Jäkel, a 24-year-old central defender, is leaving RB Leipzig and is on loan for the sixth time. The talented defender's new club is Eintracht Braunschweig, which will compete in the 2nd Bundesliga next season. After a challenging time marked by injuries, Jäkel is now hoping for a new beginning in Lower Saxony. Picture reports on Jäkel's career, which took him from the youth academy of RB Leipzig to various loans in Germany and Belgium.

Jäkel, who has been part of RB Leipzig since 2013 and was never permanently released, recently had to struggle with health problems. After playing well in his first season at SV Elversberg, he tore a cruciate ligament in February 2024. The subsequent rehab affected his performance, so he only played in one game for Elversberg last season. Despite these setbacks, the club still sees potential in him. Eintracht Braunschweig has recognized Jäkel's abilities and secured a purchase option for the player, which could be financially advantageous for Leipzig.

A new start in Braunschweig

Benjamin Kessel, Sports Director of Eintracht Braunschweig, expressed optimism about Jäkel's integration into the team. Jäkel, who is 1.94 meters tall and wears the number 5 on his shirt, completed the medical check on Thursday and traveled with the team to the training camp in Austria on Friday.

The 24-year-old is hoping for a stable season at Eintracht Braunschweig in which he can use his strengths. He looks forward to working with the team and wants to help achieve the goals set. Jäkel, who also won the Fritz Walter Bronze Medal and played for the German U-national teams, has an impressive record, with 44 second division games and 36 games in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

The loan was necessary to extend Jäkel's contract until 2026, suggesting that RB Leipzig have great confidence in his abilities and remain interested in a positive future for the centre-back. Jäkel took the opportunity to get his career back on track and plans to actively use the support Braunschweig offers him during this transition period.
