Sustainability in focus: Seehausen relies on fresh table gardens!
The Seehausen community is increasingly committed to sustainability and environmental protection. Under the direction of Hans Joachim Hildebrandt A future-oriented project is being implemented that provides fresh, harvested products from table gardens. This initiative aims to provide the region with local food from spring to fall.
The association mayor Rüdiger Kloth (Free Voters) supports the development of a brochure that is intended to raise public awareness of issues such as sustainability, environmental protection and digitalization. Particular attention is paid to the forest on Barsberge, which not only offers hikers sustainable nature experiences, but also promotes environmentally friendly travel options and waste avoidance.
Community gardens as a social platform
A central element of the sustainability concept are the table gardens Seehausen and cruds. Here, citizens can get involved and actively participate in supplying their region with fresh food. These gardens are not only a place for growing vegetables, fruits and herbs, but also a platform for community engagement where the harvest benefits those in need. The distribution takes place via the distribution point at the Petri Church, which also serves as a communication point for exchanging recipes.
The daycare center and after-school care center in Groß Garz also play an important role in the concept. An attempt is made here to create awareness of environmental and nature conservation among the youngest children. In this way, children should be inspired to act early by actively participating in garden design, self-sufficiency with crops and the creation of flowering meadows and flower beds.
The brochure also points out the need for cleanliness campaigns. Citizens are called upon to actively participate in collecting garbage in order to contribute to landscape protection.
Urban gardening is trending
The trend of urban gardening, which is gaining importance in major cities worldwide, is also a relevant context for this development. Urban gardening encompasses numerous forms of urban agriculture, from intercultural gardens to community gardens to neighborhood gardens. These projects not only promote sustainability in ecological, economic and social aspects, but also offer nature experiences and improve the quality of life in the districts.
The role that community gardens play in the integration of migrants and refugees is particularly important. They offer these groups the opportunity to become actively involved in the social fabric of society and to grow their own vegetables. Such intercultural gardens are often the origin of local exchange and promote harmonious coexistence.
Overall, the Seehausen community shows how collective efforts in the area of sustainability can be successfully implemented through projects such as the table gardens and urban gardening. It is an example of encouragement for other communities to also embark on the path to greater environmental awareness and social responsibility.
