Digital citizens' consultation hour: Discuss progress at the Lindenau Museum!

On October 23, 2025, Altenburg's Mayor André Neumann will announce a digital citizens' consultation hour, which will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025. The consultation hour focuses on the current status of the Lindenau Museum construction site, which is currently undergoing extensive renovation work. Citizens can look forward to insights into the progress of the construction work and information about the association of Altenburg museums. The guests include District Administrator Uwe Melzer and museum director Dr. Roland Krischke, who will also contribute their perspectives.

The digital consultation hour will be broadcast on October 29, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. on the city's Facebook page and the city's YouTube channel. Those interested can follow the broadcast without an account, but active participation by asking questions is not possible, which limits interaction somewhat. The aim of the event is to inform the public comprehensively about developments surrounding the Lindenau Museum, which will soon be enriched by a significant donation.

New addition to the Lindenau Museum

From the beginning of November, the Lindenau Museum in Altenburg will be enriched by a donation from Petra Paulokat-Helling. The donation includes almost 150 exhibits, mostly archaeological artifacts, dating primarily from 800 BC. to 40 BC BC. This collection includes 147 artifacts and two paintings by the artist Horst de Marées, who lived from 1896 to 1988. His collection, which he assembled in Italy around 1930, includes, among other things, Greek, Roman and Etruscan ceramics and was handed over to the Lindenau Museum in the 1950s after decades of storage.

District Administrator Uwe Melzer expressed gratitude to Petra Paulokat-Helling for this important donation, which will strengthen the museum in its mission to preserve, research and make the exhibits accessible. Dr. Roland Krischke, the museum director, emphasized the central role of these new objects in the future permanent exhibition. A few selected exhibits are currently on display in the interim of the Lindenau Museum, which is located at Kunstgasse 1.

These developments not only underline the cultural value of the city of Altenburg, but also the commitment of those responsible to establish the Lindenau Museum as an important place for art and history. With the upcoming digital public consultation and the new donation, Altenburg is entering an exciting phase in its cultural life.
