The municipality of Holzhausen is about to take an important step towards improving the fire brigade infrastructure. The Holzhausen fire department urgently needs new accommodation because the fire department building currently in use has major defects and no longer meets current safety requirements. In order to meet the diverse requirements as best as possible, a transitional solution is being sought on the sports field area, which should be implemented this year. According to HNA, a planned vehicle hall that offers two parking spaces is under discussion.
The administration has already announced that it will seek three offers for halls to check whether a hall can be rented or leased. A building application for the transition hall should still be submitted, with the cost estimate being around 380,000 euros. In terms of residents, the locations were discussed at the citizens' meeting, in particular the hall near the former athletes' home at the parking lot at the entrance via Berliner Straße. The possibility of rebuilding the hall at another location if it were to be purchased was also discussed.
Bureaucratic hurdles and time pressure
At the city council meeting, concerns were raised about the time delays and the choice of location. Some city councilors emphasized the urgency, especially when it comes to operations on the highway, which are crucial to the safety of citizens. It has become clear that the fire brigade must be equipped with functional and appropriate accommodation as quickly as possible in order to guarantee its operational capability.
Another project that is important for Holzhausen is the construction of a joint fire station, which is being planned by the city of Bad Pyrmont and the Holzhausen fire department. OnOctober 12, 2023The decision was made to build the fire station at the “Gondelteich” location. According to City of Bad Pyrmont, the project can look back on a Europe-wide tender in which the company GOLDBECK Nord GmbH was selected as the most economical provider.
The total cost of this project is approximately 13.259 million euros.
The planning and construction of the adjacent public parking facilities are also part of the contract. The construction progress will be made visible to citizens via a webcam in order to ensure transparency about the progress of the project. The new fire station is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2025. Through these initiatives, the Holzhausen fire department not only receives a temporary solution, but also, in the future, contemporary and functional accommodation that meets the requirements of modern emergency response.
