The International German Gymnastics Festival in Leipzig is in full swing and is attracting numerous sports enthusiasts to the city. Over 80,000 active participants and up to 750,000 expected visitors will be on the event site throughout the day. 21,000 spectators were welcomed to the opening ceremony on Wednesday evening. The opening ceremony was officially launched by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, while Mayor Burkhard Jung and Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer warmly welcomed the guests.
