Merlin Hummel, a talented hammer thrower from Kulmbach, took fourth place during the election for “Ace of the Month June 2025” by the German Athletics Association (DLV). Hummel received 18.2 percent of the votes cast via social media Facebook and Instagram. This election was part of an exciting month for athletics that produced numerous best performances and records.

The race for the title was won by triple jumper Caroline Joyeux (LG Nord Berlin), who received the highest share of votes with 33.3 percent thanks to her impressive performance at the European Team Championships, where she reached a distance of 14.42 meters and a new personal record of 14.45 meters. Alexander Stepanov (VfL Sindelfingen) followed in second place with 26.8 percent, while Robert Farken (SG Motor Gohlis-Nord Leipzig) took third place with 21.7 percent.

Achievements of the month

The month of June 2025 was particularly successful for track and field athletes in Germany. Robert Farken set two German records on June 6th: over 1,500 meters with a time of 3:30.80 minutes and over the mile with 3:49.12 minutes in Oslo. These achievements made Farken a special candidate for the election. The 800 meter runner Alexander Stepanov also set new standards with his time of 1:44.17 minutes in Pfungstadt. This was the best time by a German runner in over 20 years.
