On Saturday morning, a 26-year-old Polish man was arrested by the federal police on the city bridge from Zgorzelec to Görlitz. The arrest took place as part of a search that uncovered two arrest warrants that the Augsburg public prosecutor's office had issued at the beginning of August.
The man had failed to respond to the judgments of the Augsburg district court: a penalty order from February 2022 for driving without a license and a judgment from June 2023 for drunk driving. For his ignorance he now has to expect a fine totaling over 5,000 euros.
