Southern Germany Cup 2025: Bavarian talents shine in badminton!
Ruit, Deutschland - The southern Germany cup held from July 12th to 13th, 2025 in Ruit represented an important step in the cooperation between the Bavarian Badminton Association and the Badminton State Association of Baden-Württemberg. This cooperation, which has existed since 2022, aims to create synergies, promote talents and become stronger together. The southern Germany cup, which took place for the second time this year, forms the central element of this cooperation and enables the best young players of both federal states to measure themselves sporty, such as [badminton.de] (https://www.badminton.de/news/badminton/sueddeutschlandpokal-2025-zwei-bundenlaender-ein-ziels- afternoon foerdern/).
Overall, the most talented athletes of the U13 and U15 age groups from Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg competed against each other. Bavaria provided a strong team of 12 players: Aarya Dahiya, Marie Ullmann, Emma Flemming, Arya Mendiratta, Linus de Matos and Jaivigna Bollampalli were represented in the U13. The U15 was formed by Julia Sui, Maira Buckel, Marie Wong, Rana Medharametla, Jakob Hopp and Ratnesh Reddy Sugangar. The supervisors of the Bavarian team, sports director Lukas Gunzelmann and Talent team Bayern Coach Lino Degenkolb were responsible for supporting the players during the competition.
results and competitions
The competitions included six singles, two doubles and one mixed in both age groups. In particular, the U13 team from Bavaria showed itself in great form and won 6: 3 against the team from Baden-Württemberg. However, the U15 had to deal with a 2: 7 defeat against the BWBV team. Despite the defeat, the team demonstrated great fighting spirit and gained valuable experiences that are significant for their sporting development.
After the competition, the opportunity was used to promote further training. A joint training for players and coaches took place to strengthen the exchange and sporting coexistence, as on badminton-bbv.de. This is regarded as a valuable part of the cooperation because the focus is on the development of young talent.
next steps and initiatives
The initiative to promote young talents is not limited to the southern Germany cup. The Bavarian Badminton Association is planning further measures to specifically support the talents. For example, on July 9, 2025, the district council of the Bavarian Badminton Association took place in the Niederbayern-Oberpfalz district, in which four players were nominated for the U17 European Championship. These sustainable efforts show how serious the association is with the promotion of young talent, also with regard to mental health in sports and initiatives for sustainability, such as the green feather that started on July 8, 2025.
The collaboration between Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg in badminton is on a very good way. The southern Germany cup 2025 has set the course for a successful future of young athletes and emphasizes the importance of common training and competition experiences that have a positive impact on the sporting development of the talents.
