Summer festival in the TeddyBär Hospital: Fun for small patients in Leipzig!

Liebigstraße 27, 04103 Leipzig, Deutschland - On July 16, 2025, a summer party of the Teddy Bärkrankenhaus will take place in the study center, Haus E, Liebigstraße 27 in Leipzig. The event begins at 3:00 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m. The aim of the festival is to take the fear of visiting the doctor and hospital stays. This is done by a diverse range of hands-on stations that invite you to explore the human body. In addition, the little guests can accompany their sick cuddly toys through various medical areas, such as the teddy docs, X-ray stations and an operating room.

The Teddy Bärkrankenhaus is an innovative project that was volunteered by students from the Medical Faculty. Visiting the teddy bear hospital is free for all children. This concept was initiated by medical students in Leipzig in the mid -1990s and has continuously developed since then. There is already a cooperation with over 70 kindergartens in the Leipzig area, which enables children to approach medical topics.

Why the teddy bear hospital is important

The doctor visit can be uncomfortable and scary for many children, especially preschool age. They often feel fear and incomprehension to different examination methods. The teddy bear hospital, whose concept comes from Scandinavia, invites the children to actively participate in role -playing games. They bring their own soft toys and imagine an illness for this, which is then examined. In this way, the children learn playfully what can happen to them when visiting a doctor and this helps to reduce their fears.

The teddy bear hospital is not just a unique event. A summer festival has been organized every year since 2011 that attracts many families. In addition, the medical students on site offer teddy heart. The project has also gained a foot at almost all medical faculties in Germany, which illustrates its great popularity and relevance.
