Burglary in Goldbeck: agricultural technology in the sights of thieves!
Once again, a break-in at a farm in the Stendal district is causing a stir. As the Magdeburg clicks reported, a break-in was discovered on August 1st, 2025 in Goldbeck, OT Plätz. Unknown perpetrators allegedly broke into the company premises between July 30 and 31, 2025 and searched the business premises.
When we looked back at the frightening events, it was revealed that the damage was in the lower five-figure range, with GPS technology in particular being stolen. The police secured evidence on site and initiated appropriate criminal proceedings. It is noteworthy that this is not the only incident in the region - by the end of July, four similar break-ins had already been reported in the communities of Wulkau, Hindenburg and Lindtorf.
Increasing numbers of burglaries in agriculture
The increase in burglaries, particularly in agriculture, is a worrying development. According to the LU Web Such incidents are increasing, and in most cases it is not the vehicles themselves that are stolen, but rather their installed technology. A recent podcast on this topic pointed out that specialized agricultural equipment, such as iPads and tablets, are often the target of burglars.
Urgently needed protective measures against break-ins were discussed at a panel discussion, in which press spokesman Joachim Albrecht from the Stendal police station also took part. The employees' exercises for emergencies were also discussed. For example, information was provided about measures such as tracking stolen devices using Telekom SIM cards or the IMEI number of Apple devices.
Further incidents in the Stendal district
Aside from the break-ins, there were also notable incidents in the Stendal district. On August 1st, 2025, at around 10:00 a.m., an accident vehicle was discovered in the ditch in Seehausen, Nienfelde. The driver was no longer on scene and the vehicle was uninsured, prompting further investigation. Criminal proceedings were initiated and a suspect was identified.
On the same day, but just a few hours later, at 1:00 p.m., another vehicle was reported involved in an accident in a corn field in Seehausen. The driver, a 22-year-old, was initially also not present, but appeared before the police arrived. He attempted to arrange for a farmer to recover his vehicle, but discovered he did not have a valid driver's license. Here too, criminal proceedings were initiated.
These incidents highlight the current challenges in the region. Both the police and the affected agricultural businesses are required to develop adequate measures to improve safety and prevention.
