Raid in Leipzig: Spätis closes after drug discovery and investigations!

In Leipzig, three late-night sales outlets had to temporarily close today after the police launched an investigation into suspected drug trafficking. The searches took place on Wednesday morning in Altlindenau and Sellerhausen as well as in two apartments in Paunsdorf. The suspicion of illegal activities against the narcotics laws had existed for a long time, such as LVZ reported.

During this extensive raid, 150 small plastic bags containing cannabis, 50 containing crystal meth and a small amount of cocaine were discovered. The police also confiscated cash amounting to 7,000 euros, stun guns and various storage media that may have been used for drug trafficking. The three suspects, aged 20, 37 and 40, who were found during the search, are initially allowed to remain at large while they are being investigated for illegal trafficking in narcotics.

Official measures and legal consequences

The trade office of the city of Leipzig accompanied the measures and ordered trade bans, which act like a ban on conducting business. The stores have been sealed and the operators face legal consequences if they violate them. Similar measures were already carried out last autumn against various restaurants and late-night sales in the region. Similar raids had previously taken place on Eisenbahnstrasse and Georg-Schwarz-Strasse, where narcotics were also confiscated.

Today's searches are part of a larger operation that also took place in Leipzig on Tuesday. The police searched ten locations there, including bistros and kebab stalls. The aim of this large-scale raid was to deal a blow to the drug trade in the city. That reports DAY24.

Over 500 emergency services deployed

In addition to the raids on various shops and restaurants, an extensive operation was carried out on March 23, 2025, involving over 500 emergency services. In another case, the police discovered not only drugs, but also untaxed cigarettes and weapons in a shisha bar and adjacent properties. In this context, several arrests were made and the Leipzig public prosecutor's office applied for arrest warrants against the suspects. Loud n-tv A significant amount of drugs was seized.
