The Poultry Court Möckern GmbH currently employs around 150 people and produces around 58 million chicks annually. In view of the animal welfare standards, the federal government is working in parallel to a revision of the animal welfare reservation regulation. The federal government plans to initiate the formal legal proceedings for the draft promptly. Specialist circles were consulted in order to obtain a well-founded feedback on the key points for the minimum requirements for the keeping of mast turkeys, young hens and parent animals of fattening and laying stations.

These measures are part of a comprehensive animal health strategy that is also developed to strengthen the framework conditions for agriculture and animal husbandry in Germany. The strategy is to be presented until the end of the legislative period and aims to establish preventive measures against emergencies such as fires and technical failures.
