On October 3, 2024, the city of Möckern celebrated German Unity Day with a festive event in the town hall. The day began with the arrival of a tour group from Dassel who were invited to the celebration. Mayor Sven Wolter, citizens and representatives from the council and administration were also present. The celebration was opened by Mayor Doreen Krüger.
The event was characterized by a variety of program items. In addition to the greetings from District Administrator Steffen Burchardt and Mayor Wolter on German unity, Mayor Krüger gave the celebratory speech. A culinary highlight was the donated broiler from Anhaltinische Gewickelspezialitäten GmbH, which was served to the guests.
Entertainment program and volunteer awards
The event was accompanied by performances from various dance groups, which created a festive atmosphere. After the official part, numerous volunteers were recognized who have made important contributions to the community. Afterwards, the guests stayed to dance and exchange ideas with each other.
A week earlier, a group from Möckern had visited the “Day of the Regions” in Dassel. This event began with a Thanksgiving service at St. Lawrence Church and offered participants a tour of a variety of offerings. The cookbook “Zu Tisch”, which featured Dassel’s favorite recipes, was particularly popular.
