Over 1000 shooters celebrate 100 years of Rupertigau - a celebration of tradition!
On June 17, 2025, over 1,000 shooters celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Schützengau Rupertigau in Teisendorf. The event, which brought together a large part of the shooting scene in the region, was characterized by tradition and community. Article author Monika Konnert described how the event also represents a strong symbol of the cohesion of the shooting clubs.
The celebrations around Rupertigau are part of a larger tradition within the shooting industry in Bavaria. The Schützengau Rosenheim, with over 7,200 members and 80 clubs, celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2022. This district was founded on December 3, 1922, with only 12 clubs at the time. In his speech, District Rifleman Gerhard Nevihosteny emphasized the importance of volunteer work and the challenges that the shooting clubs have had to overcome over the years.
Challenges and successes
In view of the many social and economic difficulties, both Mayor Andreas März and District Administrator Otto Lederer emphasized the changed framework conditions that the shooting clubs were faced with. The district rifle master particularly points out the problem of the lack of a shooting center and the necessary shooting facilities. Nevertheless, the decline in membership is contradicted by a stable or even increasing number during the corona-related restrictions, indicating a growing interest in shooting sports.
Eva Gottstein, the Bavarian State Government Commissioner for Volunteering, emphasized in her speech the key role that volunteering plays in shooting sports. The Schützengau Rosenheim is one of the 106 volunteer associations in the Bavarian Sports Shooting Association, which underlines the importance of volunteers in sport.
With the anniversary and the anniversary celebration behind them, the shooting clubs can look optimistically into the future and continue to work on their goal of promoting and maintaining shooting sports in the region.
