Thuringian Organ Summer 2025: Five unforgettable concerts in the Ilm district!

The Thuringian Organ Summer, a popular concert series, is taking place for the 34th time this year. The series will be held in over 40 locations in Thuringia until July 20, 2025. A total of almost 50 concerts will be presented in this context, which will appeal to both connoisseurs and newcomers to organ music.

In the Ilm district, music lovers can look forward to five special concerts. The venues are Ilmenau, Arnstadt, Neusiß, Holzhausen and Wipfra, where talented organists and ensembles will perform. On July 5th, Thomas Friedlaender will play historical instruments in Neusiß, a highlight that will take listeners into the fascinating world of organ music. insuedthueringen.de reports.

Diverse program and new line-ups

A varied program is planned for the concerts. The Berolina Ensemble had to cancel for health reasons, which resulted in new line-ups. Steffen Naumann (trumpet), KMD Theophil Heinke (organ, Waltershausen) and Ingo Wernsdorf (timpani) will appear at the concert. The program includes festive works by J. S. Bach, G. F. Handel and Pachelbel as well as compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach and his students under the title “BACH AND HIS CRABS”. Admission to these concerts is €12 and offers a high level of musical diversity.

Another highlight will be the performance of catchy tunes, including music by Lévébure-Wély as well as popular sounds from the Beatles and film music by Sebastian Fuhrmann (organ). Here too, entry is only €12. In addition, the “Organ Summer Cocktail” concert will be offered on June 26th, for which admission is free, but advance registration is required by May 30th. organsommer.de provides further details.

Cultural experiences and an upscale ambience

The offer also includes church tours with explanations of works of art as well as a selection of coffee and cake, which make the visit a completely successful experience. Many of the events also focus on the history of the Thielemann organ in the Trinity Church in Gräfenhain. Stefan Kießling (organ) and Teresa Maria Winkler (soprano) appear here and present solo cantatas and organ pieces from France and Italy.

The Thuringian Organ Summer promises to be a place of cultural exchange and musical discovery. It is a must for every music lover and offers a great opportunity to experience the fascinating sounds of the organ in a historical setting. Don't miss these events!
