Stemweder's young fire brigade: District cup winner with 1,419 points!

This year's national youth fire brigade competition at district level took place on June 23, 2025 on the sports field in Petershagen-Lahde. The Stemweder junior fire brigade group shone with an impressive performance and took first place with a total of 1,419 points. The group not only secured the district cup, but was also able to celebrate a victory for the 33rd time in a row. This extraordinary track record shows the commitment and skills of the young firefighters in Stemwede, as Westfalen Blatt reports.

The competition, which has been held since 1972, takes place as part of the district championship. This year, the Porta Westfalica-Holzhausen youth fire department hosted the district cup competition for the first time, in which a total of 22 groups took part. The event consists of different disciplines: The A part, a firefighting attack, and the B part, a 400-meter obstacle course. An experienced team of referees evaluates the participants' performances, which makes the competition all the more exciting. Particularly noteworthy is the Lothar Ibrügger challenge cup, which is awarded to the group with the most points, as Kreiszeitung reports.

The participant groups and their successes

The Stemweder youth fire brigades are represented in the competition with a total of four groups. The Haldem-Arrenkamp youth fire department is starting as defending champions and is also the reigning national and runner-up champion. With 23 successes in the district cup, Haldem-Arrenkamp can look back on an impressive winning history. On the other hand, the Drohne-Dielingen youth fire department is taking part in the competition again after a year's break and is also hoping for successful participation.

For the groups, their rankings not only give them the pride of victory, but also the opportunity to qualify for the 4th State Youth Fire Brigade Games, which will take place in Petershagen-Gorspen/Vahlsen in July. The award ceremony for the district cup competition is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m.

Overall, it is clear that the competitions not only test the competitiveness of the groups, but also promote camaraderie and the training of young fire department members. Joy and team spirit are at the forefront of these exciting events, and it remains to be hoped that Stemwede will continue to be successful in the years to come.
