Art in the Malek House: Mobile studio brings fresh wind to Holzhausen!

Holzhausen am Ammersee, Deutschland - in Holzhausen on Ammersee becomes an empty house a temporary studio for two artists. The project, called "Mobiles Atelier", is used by the two graduates of the Düsseldorf Art Academy, Hanna Kuster and Lara Werth until July 19. Thanks to the financial support of the Bavarian Ministry of Art and the municipality of Utting, this project can be realized. The idyllic location of the Malek House, just a few steps from the Ammersee, offers the two artists optimal conditions for their creative work. Mayor Florian Hoffmann also plans to redesign the Malek House into a village community center.

Around 70 artist duos had applied for participation in the mobile studio, and a jury finally chose Kuster and Werth. As the Süddeutsche Zeitung is not only interested in the artistic production, but also takes the opportunity for the exchange Community on site. Kuster and Werth have a friendly relationship that began at pub talks. While Kuster already has positive memories of Lake Ammersee, Werth is new in Bavaria.

artistic exchange and inspiration

As part of the project, various events are planned to promote exchange with the municipal population. From June 13th, an accompanying program will start with "After Work Art", followed by a afternoon with seniors, a parent-child workshop and an open studio. The finissage on July 19 at 4 p.m. is used to present the results of the artistic work. At the same time, the two artists manufacture large -format, colorful paper work, which are supposed to stimulate the residents and visitors of Holzhausen, to participate artistically.

Inspiration find Kuster and Werth not only in the landscape of the Ammersee, but also in the tradition of the Holzhausen artist colony, which was founded around 1900 by Paul Hoecker. Around 50 artists created a space of the originality and community spirit. The mobile studio wants to revitalize this tradition. In recent years, Holzhausen has experienced an increasing influx of artists and has become increasingly popular as a creative place.

mediation of contemporary art

The mobile studio has been traveling through Bavaria since October 2023 to bring contemporary art to rural areas. The goal is to strengthen the visibility of contemporary art as well as to promote encounters and exchange between artists and the population. The Jes Kulturstiftung supports the project financially and thus promotes artistic work and community initiatives in the region. As part of the project, the artists are available to up to 2,000 euros per month, of which they can also cover material costs of up to 1,000 euros.
