Cigarette smuggling in the Görlitz city park: child in the car as a camouflage!
In a spectacular traffic stop on September 18, 2025 in the Görlitz city park, a joint patrol by customs and federal police uncovered an illegal cigarette smuggling couple. While those around her watched, the man sneaked into a bush with a stroller. But instead of a child, the officers only discovered a blanket in the car and a large amount of 10 cartons of cigarettes hidden underneath.
A subsequent search brought shocking results: the officers found a total of 11,200 cigarettes with a Polish tax stamp and almost 25,000 euros in cash from the 42-year-old couple. In addition, they discovered 19 completed parcel labels in a backpack, the recipients of which were family members, indicating a planned shipment within Germany.
