Bärenstein border crossing: Federal police stop smugglers and rejections!

At the weekend, the Chemnitz Federal Police Inspectorate carried out crucial checks at the Bärenstein border crossing and discovered several unauthorized entries. On June 27, 2025, a 45-year-old Kosovar driver was arrested in a car with a Kosovar registration. Despite having a valid passport, there was an existing entry and residence ban against him. After police processing, he was sent back to the Czech Republic.

The next day, the police checked a Czech taxi in which two Uzbek nationals (32 and 35 years old) were being transported without a valid residence permit for Germany. The Czech driver, 50 years old, is suspected of illegally smuggling in foreigners. He was released after paying a security deposit of 240 euros. In addition, a 21-year-old Czech man was able to avoid prison despite being convicted of theft with a fine of 616 euros or a substitute prison sentence of 13 days.
