A 64-year-old German caused a stir in Zittau on September 2, 2025 when he was riding his bike while heavily intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of 2.08. Federal police stopped him at 7:45 p.m. after he blocked the wide side of the road and almost fell.

Officials carried out a voluntary breath alcohol test and banned him from driving. The Zittau-Oberland police station has started an investigation to further clarify the incident.
