On Wednesday night, a 19-year-old driver crashed his VW Golf into the walls of the Wiener Platz tunnel. The young driver, who was under the influence of drugs, came off Wiener Straße and lost control of his vehicle after hitting a curb. The collision was violent: the Golf hit a traffic sign and both the right and left tunnel walls.
Fortunately, the driver was uninjured, but the damage totaled around 20,000 euros. A drug test revealed the man had consumed cannabis and police ordered a blood sample. His driver's license was confiscated and the 19-year-old now has to answer for endangering road traffic.
