Leipzig's weekend: wine festival, summer cinema and much more awaits you!

Leipzig is showing off its best side this weekend and offering both holidaymakers and locals a variety of exciting events. The focus is particularly on the 25th Leipzig Wine Festival, which takes place in the city center from Wednesday, July 2nd to July 13th. This year the festival has undergone a special expansion; For the first time, it extends beyond the market into Petersstrasse. A total of seven new wineries and two new wine regions present their high-quality products here. International providers from countries such as France, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Australia, California and South Africa are also represented. The variety is great and ranges from organic products to wines for people with food intolerances.

The wine festival offers a live program every day from 6:30 p.m. on stage, accompanied by culinary delicacies such as tarte flambée, pretzel pastries and cheese. Visitors can enjoy the wines in a relaxed atmosphere. Opening hours are daily from 12 p.m., with the bar closing at 11 p.m. On the last day, July 13th, the event ends at 8 p.m. The [Leipziger_Weinfest_seite](https://www.leipzig-im.de/index.php?section=details&wahl= events&wahl2=131665) also has a digital location map and price lists available to make the visit easier.

Movie enjoyment and street markets

There is also reason for cinema fans to be happy: the summer cinema at the Feinkost shows the film “Voilà, Papa! – The almost perfect son-in-law” on Saturday evening and “The Phoenician Masterstroke” by Wes Anderson follows on Sunday. The performances start at 9:30 p.m. and tickets are available online for 9 euros.

Meanwhile, the flea markets in the city invite you to pick up a bargain or two. On Saturday there will be a flea market in the southern suburb from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The flea market in the center-southeast at the Old Trade Fair opens on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. And in Plagwitz there is another flea market on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. under the motto “Flohmi is bright to cloudy” – entry is free!

Comedy and special exhibitions

Another highlight are the CoCo comedy shows, which take place on Saturday in the city beach at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday in the Felsenkeller beer garden at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online from 18 euros. If you prefer something quieter, you can visit the newly revised exhibition on the history of coffee in the coffee house “Zum Coffe Baum”. This offers guided tours on Sundays and opens daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. - entry is free without a tour.

Last but not least, the over-30 summer night party takes place in Westhafen. From 6 p.m., guests aged 27 and over are invited to dance and party here. Several DJs and various dance floors ensure a varied ambience. Tickets are available online and at the box office.

Overall, the weekend in Leipzig promises a lot of variety and entertainment. No matter whether you are interested in wine, film, dawdling or stand-up comedy - there is something for every taste to ensure an unforgettable weekend.
