Tightened controls: Police fight against violence at Berlin's train stations!

On June 13, 2025, the Berlin Federal Police Directorate issued a temporary regulatory order that specifically targets violent crimes on railway facilities. This measure requires that you refrain from carrying dangerous objects, especially impact or stabbing weapons. The scope of the checks in the first two weeks is considerable: 1,973 people were checked, and a total of 160 dangerous items were seized from 136 of them. The violations identified so far are alarming. A total of 79 violations of the prohibition order and 46 violations of the Weapons Act were registered. The federal police documented, among other things, the carrying of 81 different knives, 36 irritants, 22 tools and 12 cutting weapons. In addition, 219 other crimes emerged during the checks, including 44 violent offenses, 42 residence offenses and 34 drug offenses. These numbers illustrate the urgency of the measures, which apply until 4 a.m. on June 30, 2025.

Ban on weapons at train stations

Carrying weapons and dangerous objects at various Berlin train stations has not only been an issue since this order was passed. A similar ban has been in effect since March 7, 2025, which specifically targets knives, firearms and various other dangerous items. Safer train stations through increased controls

The intensive controls and the ban on carrying dangerous items are aimed at increasing safety at train stations. The federal police not only have an eye on compliance with the ban, but will also continue to pursue violations that can be punished with fines. Train stations particularly affected are the main station, Zoological Garden, Friedrichstrasse, Alexanderplatz, Gesundbrunnen, Spandau, Ostbahnhof, Warschauer Strasse, Ostkreuz, Lichtenberg, Neukölln and Südkreuz.
