Dresden police in action: electrical cable theft and car break-ins!

On June 3, 2025, numerous police incidents were reported in Dresden and the surrounding area, painting a worrying picture of the current security situation. The city witnessed theft of electric cables, accidents and various criminal acts.

The theft of around 150 meters of electrical cable from a new school building in Dresden-Seidnitz is particularly serious. Unknown perpetrators caused damage of around 3,500 euros. Several car break-ins were also recorded. An Audi A6 was broken into in the Leipzig suburb and a computer and monitor worth around 2,000 euros were stolen. Theft was also involved in the Innere Neustadt, where the side window of a Peugeot was smashed and a handbag worth around 100 euros was stolen.

Traffic accidents and drunk driving

The traffic accidents in the region are particularly noticeable. A 68-year-old driver caused an accident at Großer Garten in which four cars were damaged. An alcohol test showed a level of 1.1 per mille, which resulted in an estimated loss of 16,000 euros. Such incidents paint a shocking picture of the dangerous nature of drinking and driving. During further traffic checks in Dresden, several drunken two-wheeler drivers were found who also got into accidents.

As already mentioned in previous reports, there were also devastating traffic accidents in the area around Bernau. On February 21, 2025, there was a serious accident on the A11 in which a VW Touareg overturned. The driver was seriously injured and flown to hospital by rescue helicopter. The material damage is estimated at around 50,000 euros. Although the occupants of the other vehicle, a VW ID.4, were uninjured, such incidents highlight the importance of road safety.

Crime on a worrying scale

The statistics not only record thefts, but also other serious crimes. A 67-year-old woman from Blasewitz was scammed over the phone and lost almost 4,000 euros through unlawful transfers. In Pieschen, unknown people broke into a ground floor apartment, where they stole tobacco and cannabis worth around 80 euros.

On the same day, two incidents of incitement also took place at the main train station, with a 36-year-old shouting “Sieg Heil” and a 66-year-old giving the Hitler salute. Such actions are not only illegal, but also cast a dark light on the social mood.

The police recorded these incidents in order to restore security in public spaces and provide citizens with a sense of protection and order. According to saechsische.de there is an urgent need for action.

Around 50 to 70 people gathered unannounced in the old town and chanted xenophobic slogans, which once again underlined the fragility of social interaction. A 15-year-old resisted a police stop and injured an officer, highlighting the challenges facing law enforcement in the city.

The large number of these incidents suggests that both the police and the public are called upon to work together to ensure a safe and peaceful community. The reporting by bernau-live.de impressively shows how much pressure the public is under due to such events, and the need for preventative measures remains high.
