Sensational Banksy exhibition in Leipzig: works of art that move!
With the opening of the exhibition “House of Banksy Leipzig – An Unauthorized Exhibition” on May 30, 2025, Leipzig is attracting everyone’s attention. Until October 26, 2025, art lovers and those interested have the opportunity to find out more about the mysterious artist Banksy at Grimmaische Straße 10, the former Esprit Store. With an exhibition area of 1,500 square meters, this is the most extensive Banksy show in Europe and shows over 150 motifs by the gifted street artist.
The opening was almost fully booked and is attracting additional visitors after the successful stops in Munich and Hamburg, which together attracted around 300,000 visitors. Works in the form of graffiti, photographs, sculptures and video installations as well as prints on a wide variety of materials such as canvas, wood and concrete are shown. Around 80 percent of the original works are hardly or no longer accessible, which underlines the relevance of this exhibition.
Diverse topics and original works
The themes of the exhibition are diverse and extremely current: war, xenophobia, police violence, violence against women and the flight of people are dealt with in depth. The most famous works include “Girl with Balloon”, “The Mild Mild West” and “Peace Dove”. A self-portrait by Banksy and works of art created on the rubble in Ukraine should not be missed. The exhibition is curated by Virginia Jean, who works internationally in the field of street art and is considered an expert on Banksy's works.
Banksy is not only known for his impressive works of art, but also for his critical and often political messages. His identity remains a mystery to this day and it is estimated that the artist is between 45 and 50 years old. According to [leipziginfo.de](https://www.leipziginfo.de/aktuelles/artikel/ exhibition-the-mystery-of-banksy-a-genius-mind-im-kunstfabrik-leipzig/), he is considered one of the most expensive contemporary artists and achieves horrendous prices at auctions.
