Lack of staff in Seehausen: Citizens criticize overgrown green spaces!

In the Hanseatic city of Seehausen, green care and the cleanliness of the public spaces face major challenges. Due to a blatant lack of personnel, numerous green areas, such as the outside area of the former daycare center at Klosterschulplatz, are very neglected and overgrown. Residents are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the inadequate care of the green areas, especially on the corner of Patriotstraße/Steinstraße, where thorn plants cause injury. In addition, lawn care on Barsberger Weg is criticized: the grass is almost a meter there. Mayor Detlef Neumann said that there are currently no workers available through working groups, which further tightens the situation. He emphasized that the city administration currently had to live with the given conditions and that not all maintenance work could be carried out.

Councilor Ralf Steinmetzer drawn attention to the overgrown daycare center on Klosterschulplatz and expects that no measures are taken to improve the situation there either. The concerns of the citizens about the insufficient care of the city green areas are therefore not unfounded, and there is an urgent need for solutions.

green areas and photovoltaic systems in focus

The SPD City Councilor Christina March raised her voice for the preservation of green spaces and new plantings in the village as part of the session. Environmental Mayor Heiko Rosenthal pointed out that landfill locations are a suitable option for photovoltaic systems. In this context, the SPD parliamentary group emphasizes the need for compensation measures to improve the quality of life in the north of Seehausen.

  • First application for the implementation of compensation measures received 43: 0 votes for ten abstentions.
  • Second application for greening gaps between PV systems received 40 votes without votes against nine abstentions.
  • third application for the financial participation of the village of Seehausen in the income of the photovoltaic system, however, with 21:22 votes for eleven abstentions.

Although there is no agreement on financial participation, the majority of the city council is unique in the preservation of the green spaces in Seehausen. While the CDU City Councilor Claus Uwe Rothkegel supports the SPD claims, Green City Councilor Jürgen Kasek criticizes the use of forest areas and instead calls for a "real solar offensive" on already sealed areas.

In view of the challenges with which green care is confronted, as well as the discussion about the photovoltaic system, it remains to be seen which measures the city administration will take to take into account the concerns of the citizens and to improve the quality of life in Seehausen. The pressure on those responsible to finally find solutions is growing.
