Football and integration: How SG Bornheim is shaping the future!

SG Bornheim 1945 e.V. has established itself as a significant player in the field of sport and integration. The club, which has around 700 members in its football departments, not only offers sporting activities but also social commitment. This emerges from a current report from the Diocese of Limburg, which highlights the club's news. An important goal of the association is to promote children and young people's participation.

The club's own children and family center (KiFaZ) ensures that members can take advantage of a wide range of offers. Particularly noteworthy is the current podcast episode of the “Haus am Dom” channel, which deals with the topic of football as an integration model. Dr. Harald Seehausen, board member of SG Bornheim, provides valuable insights into the connection between sport and advice in Frankfurt. The podcast is available on all common platforms and offers exciting perspectives on the role of football in society.

Democratic structures in the youth department

Another notable project by SG Bornheim is the establishment of a “First Children’s Parliament” in 2022. Children and young people, both girls and boys, as well as trainers and members of the sports club, are actively involved in shaping the democratic youth department. The aim of this initiative is to find answers to important questions: “What is good?”, “What could be better?” and “What wishes are there?”.

The association is also committed to child protection. A comprehensive “prevention and protection concept” provides for the development of rules of conduct for the well-being of children and the promotion of the interests of children and young people. This concept is based on the children's rights, which were enshrined in the UN Convention on the Child in 1989. The creation of trusting structures is seen as central to the association's social commitment.

For active participation of children

On Friday, November 22nd, 2024, an event for children and youth participation in the sports club will take place in the SG Bornheim clubhouse. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the topics of child welfare and the commitment of everyone involved in sport will be discussed here. As the Sportjugend Hessen emphasizes, when children's welfare is at risk, those involved must not look the other way, but rather must establish a culture of looking.

The SG Bornheim is therefore actively committed to ensuring that children and young people are involved in the design of their environment and that their voice is heard. This also confirms the statement of Dr. Harald Seehausen in the podcast about the importance of integration and social responsibility in sport.
