Eifelheim is burning: Gardener fights against flames, two people injured!
Late on Wednesday afternoon, August 20th, the Heide-Stadt volunteer fire department was alerted to a fire on Flensburger Straße. At around 4:45 p.m., an old oil heater in a single-family home caught fire. The operation was successful, among other things, thanks to the rapid intervention of the fire department, which reported at 5:12 p.m. that the fire was under control.
In the incident, a woman and an elderly man were taken to the West Coast Hospital in Heide with suspected smoke poisoning. The older man, a gardener, had previously tried to fight the flames himself. His courageous actions may have saved his life and those of others nearby.
Mission details
Flensburger Straße was closed during the fire brigade operation. Fortunately, there were no major traffic disruptions due to the dead end. A total of two ambulances and six fire engines were deployed to extinguish the fire and treat the injured people. The operation ended at 6:05 p.m. after the danger had been completely eliminated.
Smoke poisoning, such as that seen here, can pose a serious risk in fires. Such poisonings often occur because smoke toxins are inhaled. Older people or people with respiratory diseases are particularly at risk in such situations. Further information on this topic can be found at feuerwehrmagazin.de.
