SG Schönau parts ways with coach Hillebrand after a weak start

The football club SG Schönau am Königssee has parted ways with coach Franz Hillebrand after a disappointing start to the season in district class 4. The decision was made after a detailed analysis of the current sporting situation and is the result of a gradual decline in performance. Hillebrand, who led the team into relegation in the 2023/24 season and took third place in the following season, was only able to develop the team to a limited extent in the new 2025/26 season. After only six points from the first seven games, SG Schönau is in second-to-last place in the table.

Responsibility for the first team is now in the hands of Thomas Kastner and Stefan Weinbuch on an interim basis. As an experienced player, the latter brings valuable expertise, even if he has not yet played in the current season. Board member Thomas Janzen expressed his gratitude for Hillebrand's work and emphasized that it was time for the players to take action. The next opportunity for this will be on October 11th, when SG Schönau will play against TSV Petting.

Weak start to the season and first defeat

The first game under the new interim duo ended on October 4th with a bitter 1:5 defeat against league leaders BSC Surheim. This defeat highlights the challenges facing the new coaching staff. However, given the current table constellation, there is enough incentive for a quick turnaround.

In the district class 4 of the Berchtesgadener Land district, a total of eight teams are fighting for promotion. On the next match day, six of the teams have home advantage, which makes for exciting games and sporting competition. In addition to SG Schönau, FC Hammerau also plays against SV Laufen, while TSV Bergen welcomes DJK Kammer on Sunday. It is noteworthy that DJK Kammer recently defeated the previous leaders FC Bischofswiesen 6:4, which makes the league particularly unpredictable for all teams.

In the next few weeks, SG Schönau will closely monitor the development of the new coaching duo in order to decide what to do next with the club's sporting future.
