SG Schönau secures victory: Farewell to three club icons!
On June 2nd, 2025, SG Schönau celebrated a convincing final in the district football class. In the last game of the season, the team clearly won 3-0 against TSV Petting. This result not only secured victory for SG Schönau, but also a strong end to a successful season.
Stefan Weinbuch was particularly active and showed many outstanding activities. However, despite his commitment, he failed to score a goal. The game was also characterized by emotional moments, because three deserving SG Schönau players left the active football stage after the game: Christian Thurner, Jörn Herdecke and Dominik Meyer said goodbye.
The season finale in numbers
In the background of the game situation, TSV Petting, which is in 7th place with 22 points, has previously experienced a positive phase. After an English week in which the team celebrated three wins - most recently a 3-1 against SV Laufen - they met the league leaders in the last game. The coach's line-up and tactics were geared towards a good end to the season, but there was no way through against SG Schönau.
- SG Schönau – TSV Petting: 3:0
- Der TSV Petting belegt den 7. Platz mit 22 Punkten in der Kreisklasse 4.
- Petting hatte zuvor eine starke Woche mit drei Siegen in Folge.
The last games of TSV Petting were characterized by enormous fighting spirit. A key moment in the last game was a back pass from Andreas Butzhammer that hit the post. Nevertheless, the weight of Petting's performance was slightly below the level of SG Schönau, which ended the season with a clear victory.
The players' farewell
The farewell to Thurner, Herdecke and Meyer marked an emotional end to the season for SG Schönau. All three players have made significant contributions over the years and leave a huge void in the team. After the game, their thoughts were looking back on their years together in the SG Schönau jersey and the joy at the end of the season.
SG Schönau's creative and combative style of play, underlined by Weinbuch's strong performances, more than paid off in this last game. The club is now looking forward to next season as the “old stars” leave the football field for a different role.
