FC Schönau: Coach Knobel is fighting for 40 points and staying in the league!
FC Schönau has shown an impressive performance this season despite numerous adversities and has now mathematically secured relegation. Coach Manfred Knobel, who has only recently been in charge of the first team, has brought the team into a more stable position. Under his leadership, the goal of winning the next three games and achieving 40 points will continue to be pursued. The next decisive match is already scheduled for Sunday against SV Jestetten, which starts at 3 p.m. The team wants to confirm the positive development here.
The season was marked by challenges for FC Schönau. Among other things, they had to cope with the departure of Ismail Demirci to Bitzen in the summer before Knobel took over as the successor to the coaching duo Demirci and Burak Asik. The month-long absence of Leon Hesselbarth and the switch to alternative training at the sports fields in Todtnau and Utzenfeld also presented additional hurdles. Nevertheless, Knobel is satisfied with what has been achieved so far. He emphasizes that every single game is crucial for staying in the league.
Change of coach and new goals
The recent change of coach at FC Schönau became necessary after the team was in 13th place after 17 games this season and thus in a potential relegation zone. Knobel, who previously trained the second team and was able to celebrate successes there, has been in charge with immediate effect and is expected to drive forward the club's sporting development. The first chairwoman Jasmin Markanic explained that the decision to part ways with Demirci and Asik was difficult, but was necessary in order to overcome the current challenges.
Under Knobel's coaching leadership, the team promptly took action and was able to achieve one win after the winter break, followed by two defeats. The remaining goal is to win the last games of the season in order to end the season on a positive note and thus position ourselves better for the coming season. The pressure to collect points is high because every point can be crucial for staying in the league, as is common in many leagues. The relegation battle remains exciting until the end, especially in leagues where up to ten teams can be in danger of being relegated reports the sports lexicon.
The club plans to employ Knobel as head coach in the coming season if relegation is secured. The focus is not only on survival in the current league, but also on sustained positive development. With a strong team performance and the right coaching, FC Schönau should find its way back to its old strength despite all the difficulties.
