750 years of Zell: A festival for the senses on the weekend from July 18th to 21st!

The city of Zell im Wiesental is preparing for an important event: the city's 750th anniversary will be celebrated from July 18th to 21st, 2025. The ceremony promises a varied program for young and old. Mayor Peter Palme, together with the city administration, invites you to properly celebrate this special event.

The official opening of the anniversary festival will take place on July 19th at 6 p.m. on the Rathausplatz and Sparkassenplatz. At this ceremony, Mayor Peter Palme will perform the traditional tapping of the barrel. Musical performances, including those from the Atzenbach Music Association, will accompany the evening and get visitors in the mood for the celebrations.

A celebration full of highlights

A special highlight of the evening will be the performance of the Italian music formation “J’amis d’Albian”, who want to ensure the best atmosphere with a group of 15 musicians from 8 p.m. This formation already caused enthusiasm at the last Zell music festival two years ago. Later in the evening, the Zell cult band “Patchwork” will take the stage from 9 p.m.

Saturday will also be enriched with a medieval festival that will take place on Latschariplatz in front of the Hotel Löwen. Here guests can enjoy culinary specialties and a rich supporting program. The city administration will round off this day with numerous offers from Zell associations, restaurateurs and traders.

Biosphere festival and many attractions

On Sunday, July 20th, the day begins with an ecumenical service led by Pastors Martin Schick and Martin Rathgeber. The Biosphere Festival ceremony will follow at 11:15 a.m., in which, among others, District President Carsten Gabbert and District Administrator Marion Dammann will take part. This act will be musically provided by the Stadtmusik Zell.

A specialty market from the Black Forest biosphere area awaits visitors on Schönauer Straße and Sparkassenplatz, which is open until 6 p.m. Almost 20 exhibitors will present regional products and craftsmanship. Various hands-on activities also offer entertainment for the whole family.

In addition, there will be a stage program on July 20th with performances by Stadtmusik Zell, the Gresgen Music Association and other groups. The focus is not only on celebrating the anniversary, but also on strengthening the community, which is promoted through dance and music performances.

The crowning conclusion of the festival weekend takes place on July 21st from 3 p.m. with a craftsman's hock, which presents the diversity of craftsmanship in Zell and at the same time looks back on the celebrations.
