RB Leipzig brings in T-Online editor as new media boss!
RB Leipzig has signed a new Head of Club Media: Florian Wichert is moving from T-Online to the Bundesliga club and will take up his position on October 1, 2025. Wichert is a trained journalist and has gained extensive experience in the media industry, first at Sport Bild and most recently as deputy editor-in-chief at T-Online, where he has worked since 2018. He succeeds Jamie Collins, who left the club at his own request in the spring of 2025, as [kress.de](https://kress.de/news/post/150571-exklusiv-rb-leipzig-verpflichtet-stv-chief editor-von-t-online.html) reports.
Wichert's signing comes at a strategically important time for RB Leipzig, which wants to further develop its club content channels. Wichert should play a central role here and increase digital reach and establish new content formats. With his knowledge and experience, he will form a tandem with Christoph Wulf, Head of Communications. Wichert reports to Marco Fenske, the Chief Media Officer of RB Leipzig, who only joined the club management on January 1, 2025. Fenske highlights the club's ambitions to maximize its national and international presence and perception in order to position the RB Leipzig brand as professional, innovative and confident, as described by rblive.de.
Wichert's background and goals
Florian Wichert was trained at the Axel Springer Academy and, after his time at Sport Bild, where he was editor from 2012 to 2017, held an important position at T-Online. There he built up the sports editorial team as Head of Football & Sport before moving to the role of deputy editor-in-chief in 2018. In his new position at RB Leipzig, Wichert will take responsibility for the further development of all of the club's own content channels. It aims to reach new audiences and further expand the club's digital reach to encourage interaction with fans.
In addition, RB Leipzig's media team will be strengthened by Marvin Seibert, who is moving from VfL Wolfsburg as club photographer and will start on July 1, 2025. RB Leipzig currently has a significant social media presence with 2.1 million followers on Instagram, 210,000 subscribers on WhatsApp and over 100,000 newsletter subscribers, highlighting the challenges and opportunities of Wichert's upcoming role.
