Gluten-free enjoyment: Panokuko brings delicacies to Plagwitz!

A new store dedicated to gluten-free nutrition opened in November 2023 in the up-and-coming Plagwitz district. “Panokuko” is the result of the passion of Silke Rohmer and Luise Schneider-Strehl, who want to use their concept to create an important contact point for people with celiac disease. The name itself reflects the dual focus of the offering: “Pano” for bread and “Kuko” for cake. A wide range of home-baked and home-cooked food is offered, ranging from bread and rolls to delicious cakes and exciting dishes such as Shakshuka.

All Panokuko products are gluten-free and bear the seal of the German Celiac Disease Society, which provides an important basis of trust for customers with intolerances. Gluten is hidden in many foods, which is why food labeling is crucial. Legislation, in effect since 2005, requires packaged foods to have an ingredient list containing allergens, including gluten. A product may be labeled “gluten-free” if it contains less than 20 ppm gluten. Customers can be confident that they will find safe alternatives at Panokuko, which is important, especially for those suffering from celiac disease.

A place for the whole family

Panokuko sees itself not only as a shop, but also as a meeting place for the whole family. The shop has a toy box as well as books and games for children. This makes shopping more pleasant for parents and ensures that even the little ones get their money's worth. Dogs are also welcome at Panokuko, which underlines the café feeling in the cozy environment.

Regional products are another part of the concept. Panokuko works closely with local farmers to source fresh, seasonal vegetables and fruits. This not only contributes to sustainability, but also ensures the quality of the ingredients used. Particularly noteworthy is the weekly vegetable box, which can be picked up on Thursdays by pre-ordering. This means that high-quality, fresh products reach customers’ kitchens directly.

Gluten-free nutrition made easy

A gluten-free diet can be challenging because many foods may contain hidden gluten. This makes it all the more important for people who have to eat a gluten-free diet to find a reliable provider like Panokuko. The German Celiac Disease Society promotes awareness of gluten-free products and provides information about legal labeling requirements.

In addition, gluten-free products now come from a variety of retail outlets, such as ALDI, Edeka and REWE. This variety makes the change easier as more and more people want to switch to gluten-free food.

For those who want to try or switch to a gluten-free diet, Panokuko offers an excellent way to enjoy tasty and safe food. Whether it's a quick breakfast, a hearty lunch or a sweet snack - the selection leaves nothing to be desired and helps customers make their gluten-free life as enjoyable as possible.
