Dramatic barn in maker: missing owner found!
On Tuesday evening, a worrying incident occurred in Machers, in the Plagwitz district: a barn collapsed, which put the emergency services on alert. The emergency services received the report on the collapse at 7.20 p.m. The fire brigade and emergency services were immediately alerted, since the owner of the Dreieithof was initially missing.
The first reactions on site showed a serious situation. Neighbors had seen the owner the day before, but when the barn collapsed, he was unable to find it. The fear quickly arose that he might have been buried under the rubble. To support the search, rescue dogs were requested and the technical relief organization (THW) was alerted. There were also several vehicles under the ruins, including a Renault Twingo.

A total of 38 emergency services were deployed, including firefighters from Püchau, Machers and Brandis as well as members of the German Red Cross, the police and the THW. The police immediately started persecution, while the emergency services began to clear the debris. The risk of a further collapse of the building made the clearance work particularly risky.
After about two hours of intensive search, the all -clear could finally be given. The owner was reached by phone and turned out to be not in town. This ensured relief for both the emergency services and the residents. The vehicle with the rescue dog, which came from Pirna, had to reverse on the way.
The entire mission was successfully ended around 10.30 p.m. without anyone being harmed. The quick reaction and coordination of the rescue workers contributed significantly to the fact that the situation was luckily survived without tragic consequences.
The exact cause of the collapse of the barn is currently still unclear and is examined by the responsible authorities. Until then, the municipality of makers remains concerned about the safety of their buildings.
