Paunsdorf: The 'Crazy' is back in the neighborhood after renovation!

The open leisure club “Crazy” in Paunsdorf reopened its doors on June 22, 2025 after two years of renovation and modernization. The leisure club can now better respond to the needs and wishes of Paunsdorf's children and young people.

Diverse offers for all age groups

The “Crazy” is not only aimed at children, but is also a meeting point for young people and older people. It offers a variety of leisure options such as billiards, darts, table football, table tennis, games consoles as well as board and card games. Sports activities such as football and basketball are also on the program. Creative offerings in the form of ceramics workshops, baking courses and yoga round off the diverse offering.

Almost half of the children and young people under the age of 15 in Paunsdorf are entitled to regular benefits, which underlines the importance of the meeting. The need for social interactions and extracurricular education is great here. Around 50 young people use “Crazy” every day, almost 80% of whom are migrants. By involving users, a newly founded youth advisory board has been established, which is actively involved in the design of the leisure meeting place. The renovation measures were carried out in close cooperation with several authorities, also using funding from the federal-state “Social Cohesion” program. This support is also obvious given the high poverty rate in Paunsdorf and the particular challenges in the region.
