New sweet resident in the Leipzig Zoo: Kamala, the red panda, explores!

In the Leipzig zoo, there is a new resident: a red panda female named Kamala about a year old, which has lived in the rear enclosure of the facility since mid -May. Kamala comes from a zoo in France and was first spotted in her outdoor enclosure on June 25, 2023. There she met the Schopfhirschen Nicole and Janno, who are their new neighbors. This marks a pleasant fresh start for the zoo, which could not hold red pandas for almost a year after the two animals had died.

The joy of Kamala is great and there is a possibility that this will soon get company from a male red panda. The enclosure of the red pandas is located in the high mountain landscape of Himalaya des Zoo, right next to the snow leopards.
