Last Sunday, a hot summer day, the Militzer Jahnbad in the Triebischtal was very popular. Many visitors flocked to the newly opened outdoor swimming pool in Klipphausen, which has been in operation since May 2023. The snack bar, run by Rico Fiedler, offered a variety of dishes, including the popular currywurst with homemade sauce, fresh fish rolls and various pasta dishes. However, Fiedler, who previously worked in the restaurant industry, is struggling with the challenges of running takeout, particularly staff shortages and weather-related closures.
Despite these hurdles, the snack bar and the entire facility received consistently positive feedback from guests. “The atmosphere is friendly and there are hardly any complaints about the waiting times,” reports Fiedler, who spoke of a record visit last Sunday with 1,011 guests. This number represents the highest number of visitors in the last ten years and shows that the outdoor pool is popular with both the residents of Klipphausen and many guests from Meißen and Dresden.
Bathers' wishes and financial challenges
However, the bathers also expressed wishes, in particular a renovation of the mini golf course and the introduction of a baby pool. This requires an investment of around 4 million euros. Of this amount, 1.9 million euros are planned for the renewal of the pump technology, which is already over 20 years old. The baby pool, which is also required, could not be built until 2027 at the earliest, as 1.5 million euros are needed for this.
The water quality in the outdoor pool benefits from the natural spring from the old Miltitz lime mine. The facility also offers various attractions, including a large wave slide, a children's slide and an island with water fountains, which are very popular with visitors.
Overall, the general mood among bathers is positive. The high level of satisfaction with the food and the leisure activities ensures that the Militzer Jahnbad remains a popular destination for families and swimming enthusiasts. Fiedler would like to continue to work on fulfilling the wishes of the guests and making the snack bar successful in the long term.
