Tree planting challenge: Fire briefs lives to the Miltitz outdoor pool!

On Wednesday evening, the youth work team (JET) of the DLRG Niederes Elbe valley set an example for environmental and climate protection by planting a field maple about six meters high in the Jahnbad Miltitz. This action is part of the Tree planting challenge that was originally launched in fire brigade circles. The Meißen volunteer fire brigade nominated the DLRG to take part in the challenge.

According to the rules of the challenge, each nomineed fire brigade plants a tree and has to nominate the next organization. If the nominee does not set a tree within 14 days, a barbecue evening is at stake for the nominating fire brigade. This creative game combines fun and comradely cohesion with a serious concern: climate protection. The tree plant hype has also reached Meißen since its introduction to Moritzburg and Weinböhla.

Local commitment to climate protection

In the context of the tree planting challenge, a bee tree was previously planted on the site of the local fire station. The DLRG, which is used in the Jahnbad during the season, ensured that the field maple was safely planted on the slope of a lawn and therefore does not have to be excavated again. "The tree was successfully used after about an hour of work," reported the DLRG-active pride.

The fire brigade's nomination is also an opportunity to strengthen the connection to the lifeguards in Meißen's twin town of Fellbach. In the next round of the Challenge, the DLRG in Fellbach was mentioned as the next organization. The German Red Cross (DRK) Meißen and the Meißen police station have also been nominated for the challenge.

Local and national networked

The tree planting challenge has distributed itself across Germany in recent months. Firefighters from many federal states, such as Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Bavaria, Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, take part in the campaign. For example, the fire brigade Schwarzenberg planted three trees and the Thedinghausen fire brigade four fruit trees as part of this positive competitive campaign for climate protection. "Most teams plant on time and often document their actions in videos," adds the website Feuerwehrmagazin.de In addition.

The challenge, which lives primarily from a humorous challenge, has its origin in the youth fire brigade and follows a principle that is increasingly well received in many organizations. Numerous fire brigades have already planted trees in many counties, such as the Traunstein district. Not only climate protection is emphasized, but also the cohesion within the community.

The first season after the renovation of the outdoor pool in Miltitz also recorded a remarkable number of 18,000 bathers until the end of the season on September 7, which corresponds to an increase compared to 17,100 bathers on average in the previous years. These positive trends in the region not only show the commitment of the local community, but also contribute to a more environmentally conscious way of dealing with natural resources.
