Porsche Leipzig plant: Award for innovative production 2025!
Porsche Werk Leipzig was awarded the Automotive Lean Production Award 2025 in the OEM category. This honor, which has been awarded by Agamus Consult and Automobil Production since 2006, recognizes companies for their modern, lean and digitalized production processes. The prize is intended to promote the use of lean methods and digitalization in the European automotive industry, and Leipzig impresses with its highly automated and networked production processes Leipziginfo reported.
When the award is presented, the impressive performance of the Leipzig plant is highlighted. Dr. Werner Geiger from Agamus Consult praised the clear focus on lean principles, digital intelligence and innovative automation. Albrecht Reimold, a representative of Porsche AG, emphasized that the plant represents change and flexibility and produces both gasoline, hybrid and electric vehicles.
Efficiency and flexibility through lean management
Production at the Porsche Leipzig plant is based on lean principles, which aim to increase efficiency, quality and flexibility. Gerd Rupp from Porsche Leipzig GmbH sees the award as recognition for the process optimization and the outstanding team performance. The continuous improvement process and the integration of the workforce are central aspects of this success story.
The award ceremony is scheduled for November 25th and 26th, 2025 as part of the Automotive Lean Production Congress in Poland. The selection process is determined by the nomination of the finalists, which is based on submitted questionnaires. The final awards will be presented following on-site evaluations, underscoring the importance of the jury's evaluation.
From the Cayenne to the electric vehicle
The Porsche Leipzig plant began production in 2002 and today primarily produces the Macan and Panamera models. The Cayenne was previously manufactured in Leipzig until 2017 and the Carrera GT between 2003 and 2006. The location has proven itself to have received multiple awards over the years, including receiving the “Lean and Green Management Award” in 2021 and being honored as “Factory of the Year” in 2023.
