Crossing crash in Leipzig: mother and son injured after accident!

On Friday evening, an accident with two injuries occurred in the Lützschena district of Leipzig. At around 9.30 p.m. there was a collision at the intersection of Neue Hallesche Straße/B6 and Hans-Grade-Straße, which was caused by a Ford driver making a right-of-way error. He ignored a red light and wanted to turn left when he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Peugeot driven by a 36-year-old mother. In the accident, the mother and her three-year-old son suffered minor injuries and had to be taken to hospital, while the Ford driver was uninjured.

The collision caused significant property damage: both vehicles were seriously damaged and were no longer drivable, meaning they had to be towed away. While the accident was being recorded, the intersection was completely closed for several hours, which led to significant traffic delays. The deployment of the police, emergency services as well as the Leipzig professional fire brigade and the Lützschena-Stahmeln volunteer fire brigade ensured that the accident site was secured. The traffic measures continued until around 12:40 a.m. when the intersection was reopened. The traffic accident service of the Leipzig Police Department has started the investigation.
