Kassel's first manga store Manga-Mafia draws long lines!

The first manga store will open in Kassel on June 30, 2025 and will operate under the name “Manga-Mafia”. The opening took place at Untere Königsstrasse 71 and generated a lot of interest. Long lines formed in front of the store, stretching all the way to City Point. Many visitors, including Merle Roxanna Lindenau from Uslar, sometimes waited up to half an hour to buy the first copies of the popular manga. The store manager Mario Höltge noticed a significantly higher crowd in Kassel than when the first branch opened in Stuttgart.

“Manga-Mafia” represents an important innovation in Kassel, as it is the first branch in the city dedicated exclusively to selling manga. There are currently a total of 14 branches of the company in Germany. In addition to a wide selection of manga that is updated regularly, the store also offers a selection of Japanese snacks such as mochi and soft drinks such as ramune. The opening festivities also included a special highlight: the staff welcomed the guests in maid costumes.

A wide range of offers and special promotions

In the new “Manga Mafia” store, visitors can look forward to a well-stocked manga wall that presents the latest new releases of the month. The range includes not only manga, but also merchandise and creative TCG offerings, including games such as One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon concern. Weekly promotions that take place every Saturday enrich the shopping experience. The opening of the manga store comes at a time when events such as the Kassel manga fair Nihonbashi, which attracted hundreds of fans in August 2024, are increasing interest in manga culture. “Manga Mafia” could not only open a new chapter for manga fans in Kassel, but also create a cultural meeting place.
