Airplane model making: Creative flights of fancy for young and old in Altenburg!
In the first week of July 2025, a workshop on building aircraft models will be offered in the studioLEONARDO of the Lindenau Museum Altenburg. This creative opportunity is aimed at children and adults aged 6 to 99 and takes place on July 5th, 12th, 26th and August 2nd. The aim of the event is not only to introduce participants to the basics of model building, but also to give them the chance to individually decorate their own wooden airplanes. The Altenburger Land Model Sports Club e. V. works closely with the museum to realize the event. According to lvz.de, the participants should attend at least two appointments in order to complete their model by baptism of fire.
The sessions in studioLEONARDO last from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. With a participation fee of EUR 8 per person, those interested can further develop their flying skills and learn a lot in the process. The art of building airplane models not only promotes creativity, but also technical understanding and patience. There are various contact options available for registration: Those interested can either send an email to studio@altenburger-museen.de or contact the organizers by phone at 03447 8955-430 / -451.
Baptism of fire on the model airfield
A highlight of the workshop series will take place on August 16, 2025, when the built models will be let into the air for the first time during a baptism of fire at the model airfield in Prehna. Here the workshop participants have the opportunity to present their creations to the general public and experience how well the self-built aircraft fly. This represents an exciting finale to the event.
The workshop for building the aircraft not only offers the opportunity to discover a new hobby area, but also enables exchange between like-minded people. It's an excellent opportunity for families to get creative together and promote craft skills. At a time when digital media dominates, such a practical workshop is a valuable contribution to leisure activities in the region. Further information about the workshops and registration can be found on the museum's website: lvz.de and abg-net.de.
