CSD Lübeck 2025: Together for diversity and solidarity!

Christopher Street Day (CSD) will take place in Lübeck on Saturday, August 16, 2025 and is expected to attract up to 5,000 people. Under the motto “Never be quiet again,” the event will send a strong signal for diversity, acceptance and solidarity. The Lübeck CSD e.V., a non-profit association with the aim of promoting the visibility of queer lifestyles, organizes the event, which is considered the largest political event in the Lübeck area. The association is also committed to political and social action to strengthen tolerance among the population, as Lübecker CSD e.V. reports.

The rally will open at the market in the city center. Mayor Jan Lindenau will give the opening speech. A delegation from Georgia will also be present to report on the challenges facing queer people in their country. The countdown to the start of the parade is announced with speakers on stage. The first demonstration will start at 12 p.m., which invites participants to be active and stand up for their rights, according to LN Online.

Diversity and solidarity in focus

A total of 12 decorated vehicles and 14 foot groups have registered to celebrate the CSD. Special participation is granted by the Forum for Migrants in Lübeck, which declares solidarity with the queer community. Aydin Candan, the forum’s CEO, emphasizes: “Diversity is our strength – and visibility is our right.”

Highlights of the CSD will be the energetic shows by the dance group Movingsoul, which will perform on several floats. A parade truck from Hamburg will also make its own contribution. In addition, a performance artist announces a provocative performance that serves to expose right-wing extremists. This underlines the goal of using the CSD not only as a celebration, but also as a platform for political messages.

The organization of the CSD is not just a one-off event, but part of a series of actions that are firmly anchored in Lübeck's cultural life. They promote encounters, exchange and education within the population, which illustrates the importance of such events in today's world. The CSD in Lübeck is therefore much more than just a festival - it is an expression of community and the tireless fight for rights and recognition.
