The Leipzig public prosecutor's office has brought charges against a 33-year-old man who is accused of a total of ten cases of arson. This was announced on Monday. The indictment includes, among other things, a particularly serious case that occurred on June 14, 2025, when the suspect set fire to a mobile home in which a person was sleeping at the time. The man was able to wake up due to smoke and put out the fire himself, but this left him injured. The public prosecutor's office accuses the defendant of condoning the 36-year-old's death, according to reports MDR.
In the days following this incident, on June 18th and 20th, he is accused of setting fire to nine vehicles and a caravan trailer in Leipzig-Schleußig. The total damage is estimated at 120,000 euros. The alleged perpetrator was provisionally arrested on June 20th and has been in custody since then, according to information from Day24.
